Free at Last…

I was finally able to leave today, thanks to Faustus’s Spicy Concoction (thank you Faustus). Picked up some more supplies as well as an invisible fence thing for the dog, who I’ve named Alex.

Ah, the Spicy Concoction, also know as SC. It’s supposed to consist of hot peppers, red pepper powder, hot sauce, and wasabi. I had everything except for wasabi, so I decided to substitute it with some homemade pepper spray. The resulting SC was…potent. It made my eyes water and sent me into a coughing fit.
After I had put on goggles and a respirator, I doused my car with the SC. Pretty sure the car melted a little.
As soon as I drove to the end of the driveway, the Rake popped it’s head out of the brush a few yards away. It squinted at the car in disgust, and then slunk away. Hah!

I’ve seen Possum scurrying about in the woods a few times, but other than that he’s been making himself scarce.

Almost forgot. Faustus said I should I put an X on my door, so I did. I’m thinking about carving it onto some trees outside the wards as well, just to expand the perimeter. I’ll have to wear a shirt that’s been washed in SC to do that. Not looking forward to it.

  1. I'm glad everything's working out Skan. I also love how you substituted wasabi with pepper spray, very smart. I'm still trying to figure out why the Rake is deterred by an X.
    At any rate stay safe.

  2. I suggest you wear two shirts and long rubber gloves, just to prevent contact with the SC on your bare skin. Otherwise, you might get burns.

You can also make dreamcatcher like charms of the symbol (and others) and hang them from the tree branches. I suggest white or red as strong, protective colors. Also, if you pour libations of apple cider on the tree roots, the trees spirits will be more likely to lend their energy to your charms (and less likely to take offense at any carving you do).

  3. Couple theories on the X. One is that it's simple respect for Slenderman. If the Rake thinks you're His, he won't go after you. Which puts you in danger of being noticed by Him and taken... So that's not necessarily an improvement.

The X us an ancient holy symbol predating Christianity. It represents crossroads and prior to that, the four winds or the four directions. So if it is NOT necessarily a symbol of Slenderman, it may be that the Rake has respect for its other symbolism.

Or it may be some as yet unknown reason.

  4. Those are some pretty good theories Mystery.

  5. @Faustus: Thanks. I needed something spicy, and pepper spray was the only thing I had on hand. I might use wasabi next time. Pepper spray is a bit overkill.

@Mystery: Heh, that stuff might eat through the cloth.
I really, really hope that it’s not a symbol of Slenderman. Because that would be…very bad. Perhaps I’ll hold off on the tree thing…though I will make some dreamcatcher charms, and next time I carve a protective symbol on a tree I’ll pour some apple cider on it’s roots. Thanks Mystery.

  6. @Skan: I think It may be a holy symbol on a count that I haven't seen hieght or hair of slendy. But still I love the pepper spray idea. By the by I plan of trying to liquify sc so I can use it in a spray bottle just in case I ever have any close encounters with the rake. Then I'll introduce the Rake to my good friend Mr. Machete.

  7. @Faustus: I hope it’s a holy symbol. Pepper spray is definitely effective, but the fumes are terrible. Nearly blinded myself. Liquefying SC is a good idea, though I hope you don’t have any close encounters with the Rake. Maybe you could put it in a water gun? And Machetes are a great weapon.

  8. @Skan: I also hope I don't have any close encounters either Skan, but well I'll explain later in a blogpost someone later tomorrow/today. And yes machetes are great weapons. They are Evan aproved.

  9. There are a couple ways you could turn the SC into a liquid. Infusion is the best, basically letting the peppers, etc soak in oil or alcohol before straining it. Then mix with water if you like to extend the use.

I don't suggest you use this as an offensive weapon however. If the wind would be against you, you'd do more harm to yourself than the Rake. I think it should only be used to spread the SC over a large area as a time saver. In which case, oil would be longer lasting than alcohol, but would also need to be left to soak longer.

  10. @Faustus: Alright. Haha, Evan approved.

@Mystery: Yeah, it would hurt very badly if the wind blew SC into your eyes…

  11. I'd hold off on the X...We wouldn't want to give yet another of these 'fun' abominations an excuse to come knocking. It would bring you up to..what, three? Too many. Hell, one is too many, but I digress.

  12. @Black Hawk: Haha, yeah, I think I’ll hold off on the X for now. Just in case.

  15. A game of power. A game of fate. A game of control. A game of gods.

  16. I see that you’ve taken some girl’s brother. Alright, I'll play. Just one more question: What happens if we win the game?
