Lurking

Saw Possum again last night. It just sat outside of my property. I don’t know where it went. I still haven’t seen Possum in the daytime.

I fully intend to shoot Possum if it starts to act hostile. But for now, I’m just going to observe it from a safe distance. Since there’s a good possibility that Possum is the Rake, I don’t want to piss it off unless it comes after me. So far it’s hung outside the wards.

I got a new pair of binoculars today…I’ll use them tonight.

  1. Yeah let's avoid pissing off an otherworldly something that can probably kill without even trying.... Wonder why it only comes at night though..

  2. @Black Hawk: I read somewhere (I don’t remember where) that bullets only piss off the Rake. Not sure if that’s true or not, but I’m not taking any chances with something that potentially dangerous. As long as the wards and ect keep Possum at bay, I’m not going to antagonize it. Even though I really want to shoot it.

The fact that it only comes out at night is why I’m not sure what it is. Possum seems nocturnal...I don’t think the Rake is nocturnal...

  3. Just because something prefers to come at night doesn't mean it's not capable of a daytime run...Just saying. That probably doesn't make you feel any better though. Hah.

  4. ...you’re right, heheh. That’s why I’m carrying several protective charms and guns around with me. Just in case.

  5. These charms..Do you mind if I ask you about them? As in, what are they, how do they work, etc.

  6. @Eternity: No, I don’t mind. Not sure if “charms” is the right term. It’s more like things I threw together that actually work like they’re supposed to. Here are the more protective ones.

I have a gold chain with a small leather pouch attached to it. Gold has protective properties, and is said to help with courage. Inside the pouch are several runes; Aegishjalmar (protection), Vegvisir (runic compass: helps avoid getting lost), Odin’s Illusionary Rune (camouflage/deception), Gapaldur (success in combat), and Ginfaxi (courage in combat). I wear it around my neck.

I have this little plastic tube in which I but a bunch of spices in. Cinnamon, fennel seeds, mustard seed, salt, sea salt, dill weed, basil…they all have protective properties. I drew Aegishjalmar, Hraethigaldur (rune to put fear in enemy), and Gibu Auja (rune for good luck) on small pieces of paper and put them in the tube. I also wrapped a silver chain with a Chinese jade pendant with the symbol for good luck around the tube. Silver repels negative energy and enhances whatever physic abilities you may have. I also tied a piece of string with nine knots in it (for protection-knot magic) and a piece of copper wire around the tube. Copper is good for protection, healing, and balancing you out.
I made this when a ghost had taken up residence in my room and was harassing me. It drove him out, to my surprise. I carry this one around in my pocket.

I think this one is my favorite. It’s so simple it’s not even funny, but yet it’s effective. Knot magic. I took a red string (length doesn’t matter, just as long as you can tie it around your neck) and visualized a kind of shield around me, protecting me. I also asked my deity to lend me some energy. As I concentrated on the shield, I tied nine knots in it. Then I put it around my neck. Done. As long as you don’t untie the knots, it works.

I have one more that ties into my grid of Witches Bottles. I put the left over materials from the Witches Bottles, a magnet, Vegvisir drawn on a piece of paper, and some dirt from my property into a small box. I tied it shut with a piece of leather and copper.

  7. And how much..skill...do you have to have in order to make things of this nature?

  8. @Eternity: You don’t need much skill. They’re not very complex. It helps to know what the materials you want to use symbolize, or what their properties are (when in doubt, use some salt). If you’re using runes, it’s good to know what their purpose is. Praying to a deity is helpful, and so is visualizing the “charm’s” intended purpose as you make it.
